Sarny: is a young girl that every body expects her to be dumb but actually she is kind of smart.

Night John: is the one who breaks the rules and because of that he has scares all over his body.
Mammy: is the one who take cares of the children.
Waller: is white man that is really cruel.

Setting: the setting of this book is a farm where they have slaves.

Climax:

Rising action: the rising action of this story is when Waller found Sarny writing in the dirt.
Falling action: The falling action of this story is when Night John escape from the farm and then came back to teach.

Summary:

This book is about a girl that had to face with a lot of difficultiess while been a slave like seeing her mom got whip by a man and than having to work really hard for no paying and also is not having any education and if she wanted to learn she will be killed but even though she had a big risk she still learned some words because of a man that came and tought her some things.

Once when I was in Dominican Republic my friend had a test on math and if he didn't passed he would fail the class and i was really tired but he told me that and I sacrifice my sleep to help a friend first I was kind of mad and i didn't want to do it but after he passed the test i felt really good because I knew he passed because of me.

Dear journal, One day I woke up up really tire but even though I wanted to rest a little while but, I couldn't because I am one of many slaves and I and I have a lot of things to do in the morning until the night and in the night I don't go to sleep because I knew that we as slaves have to learn in the night I teach to a girl how to write and read.
